Dr. Franco M. Recchia Joins TNR

TN Retina is pleased to announce the association of Franco M. Recchia, MD. Dr. Recchia brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Tennessee Retina.  A graduate of the top ophthalmology and retina training programs in the country, Dr. Recchia joined the faculty of the Vanderbilt Eye Institute in 2003, where during eight years on the full-time faculty he developed a reputation as an outstanding clinician, researcher, and educator.  At Vanderbilt, he served as Chief of the Retina Division and Director of the Fellowship in Vitreoretinal Diseases and Surgery.

 

Dr. Recchia has co-authored a book on retinal disease and has published over 60 original articles and book chapters on a variety of retinal topics.  He has delivered over 100 lectures to retina specialists at medical conferences throughout the world.  He has held leadership positions in the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and the Nashville Academy of Ophthalmology.  Dr. Recchia currently serves as Associate Editor (Retina Section) of the journal Ophthalmology.

 

Dr. Recchia’s clinical and research interests include macular surgery, diabetic retinopathy, and complicated retinal detachment.  He has a particular interest and expertise in pediatric retinal diseases and surgery. 

 

Beginning January, 2012, Dr. Recchia will see patients in our Nashville, Hendersonville, Bowling Green, Clarksville, and Franklin offices.

The biennial survey polls more than 46,000 doctors from 400 subspecialities who themselves represent the top physicians with affiliations with the top medical institutions in the country. Only about 5 percent of doctors currently practicing in the US are selected annually for the list.

Tennessee Retina partners with Prevent Blindness Tennessee

Tennessee Retina partnered with Prevent Blindness Tennessee (PBT) as the major sponsor of PBT's 2010 "Light The Night for Sight" Walkathon to raise awareness and support of children's eye care programs, and has plans to participate again this year.

Dr. Everton Arrindell honored by Middle Tennessee Community Health Charities

Dr. Everton L. Arrindell of Tennessee Retina, P.C. was  honored by Middle Tennessee Community Health Charities as a Champion In Health at the organization's 2010 Champions In Health Celebration. Dr. Arrindell was recognized for his work with Prevent Blindness Tennessee (PBT) as PBT's Volunteer of the Year.  Prevent Blindness Tennessee is a non-profit community health organization which provides eye care education,  screenings, and referrals for Tennesseans who are uninsured or underinsured and to individuals who would otherwise have no access to needed eye care. Dr. Arrindell is a long time volunteer with the organization and has served as the Chairman of the Board of Prevent Blindness Tennessee for the past two years.
