Dr. Brandon Busbee is a native of Clarksville, Tennessee.  After graduating from Clarksville High School, he received his undergraduate and medical school training at Wake Forest University, graduating magna cum laude.  Dr. Busbee completed his ophthalmology residency at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.  During his final year at Wills, Dr. Busbee was elected Co-Chief Resident.  After his residency, Dr. Busbee completed a two-year vitreoretinal fellowship at Tufts- New England Eye Center and Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston.  During his fellowship, Dr. Busbee held staff appointments and had teaching responsibilities at Tufts- New England Eye Center, Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary, and Harvard Medical School. 

In 2004, Dr. Busbee moved back to the Nashville area and joined Retina-Vitreous Associates (now Tennessee Retina). Dr. Busbee has published numerous articles in peer reviewed journals.  Dr. Busbee’s publications and presentations have focused on the areas of healthcare policy, endophthalmitis, diabetic eye disease, macular disease and surgery, anesthetic techniques, and retinal detachment.  He also serves on the editorial board of the journal, Evidence-Based Eye Care.  In 2007, Dr. Busbee graduated from the AAO Leadership Development Program.  Previously, he was honored with the Achievement Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology in 2005.  He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Tennessee Academy of Ophthalmology and is the chairman of the Health Plans Relations Committee.

Dr. Busbee’s clinical areas of interest include macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease and retinal detachment surgery.

Dr. Busbee and his wife, Janie, are happily married and have one son, Britton.  In their spare time, Dr. Busbee and his wife enjoy golf, tennis, water sports, snow skiing, and fly fishing.  In the warmer Tennessee months, you will often find the Busbee’s hiking in the state parks surrounding Nashville.
