Bernard Dib, M.D.

Dr. Bernard Dib is a board-certified ophthalmologist and vitreoretinal surgeon. With a commitment to surgical excellence, academic leadership, and global outreach, Dr. Dib brings a diverse and accomplished background in ophthalmology and vitreoretinal diseases.
Dr. Dib graduated with high distinction from the American University of Beirut, earning the Alpha Omega Alpha Society Award and the Penrose Award, the highest honor given to a graduating medical student for outstanding scholarship and leadership. He then held a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard Medical School, contributing to high-impact research on retinal disease mechanisms. Dr. Dib completed his ophthalmology residency and vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he earned multiple honors, including the Apple Award for outstanding resident teacher and the Lynn McMahan Award for best resident presentation for three consecutive years.
After his training, Dr. Dib founded the retina service at Kremer Eye Center, a highly regarded ophthalmic practice in Philadelphia. During that time, he also served as a clinical instructor at the Scheie Eye Institute of the University of Pennsylvania, and was involved in the surgical training of fellows. His scholarly work includes peer-reviewed publications in topics ranging from retinal inflammation to novel surgical paradigms. Dr. Dib has also presented at major national and international conferences including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retina Specialists, and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.
Fluent in English, French, and Arabic, and proficient in Spanish, Dr. Dib is an engaged global citizen, having provided surgical care and mentorship in Morocco, Ethiopia, and India.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Dib enjoys the outdoors and traveling with his family. He is also a passionate filmmaker and storyteller, producing award-winning documentaries that explore topics from vision loss to public health in the Middle East.
