Franco M. Recchia, M.D.
Dr. Recchia is a nationally recognized vitreoretinal specialist and educator. His clinical and research interests include macular surgery, diabetic retinopathy, complicated retinal detachment and pediatric retinal diseases. Dr. Recchia has been selected by his peers as one of the "Best Doctors in America" and has held leadership positions in the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and the Nashville Academy of Ophthalmology.

Coats disease is a rare eye condition that makes blood vessels in a child’s eye develop abnormally. As fluid builds up, the retina can swell and slowly damage vision. As a result, children often have very poor vision when they come in for a visit. It can lead to serious complications like a detached retina and blindness.
