Franco Recchia Contributes Expertise to AAO Educational Resource on Coats Disease
Tennessee Retina’s Dr. Franco Recchia, MD, was selected by the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) to serve as the reviewing physician for its educational resource, What Is Coats Disease?
What is Coats Disease?
Coats disease is an uncommon condition involving abnormal blood vessels in the retina. These vessels can become leaky, allowing fluid to collect in and around the retina.
The condition most often occurs in children and can affect vision. Because Coats disease is uncommon and can have a range of presentations, evaluation by a physician experienced in retinal conditions is important.
The AAO’s Eye Health A–Z resource provides information for patients and families about Coats disease, including its signs, diagnosis, and treatment. Read HERE
Dr. Recchia’s Experience in Pediatric Retina
Dr. Recchia has extensive experience caring for patients with complex retinal conditions, including pediatric retinal diseases.
