February Image of the Month

Our featured image in February was captured by Christina Moreno on our OPTOS Fundus camera!
This is a photo of Asteroid Hyalosis. Asteroid Hyalosis occurs when small calcium lipid particles are suspended in the vitreous. The highly reflective calcium-lipid particles will shine or highlight on the darker retinal background. As seen in this image of the scattered highlighted yellowish particles. Most of these patients will remain asymptomatic (have no visual symptoms). This is a harmless condition that is commonly found on a routine eye exam.
