July 2026 Image of the Month
Our featured image in July was captured by Anderson Brock on a Slit Lamp camera!
This is a photo of Presumed Conjunctival Melanoma. Presumed Conjunctival Melanoma is a rare, but serious form of cancer located in your eye. This type of cancer will affect the clear tissue over the white part of your eye.
In this image you can identify a dark, thickened raised spot with visible blood vessels running through it. These types of melanomas can formulate from a prior mole or even appear out of nowhere.
Some common signs and features may include:
- A new spot on the eye. (typically brown, black or sometimes pink)
- Raised bumps or thickened areas
- Visible blood vessels leading directly into the lesion
- Typically, visible on the white part of your eye
Patients are usually referred to our office by another healthcare professional, such as an eye doctor or primary care doctor. Our Ocular Oncology team will work with you and your other physicians throughout your care.
